Marc Ribot's Ceramic Dog

The reviews of Party Intellectuals are flowing in (and glowing). Check the quote from Pop Matters: "While a lot of the tracks on Party Intellectuals delight in ripping conventions apart, most also allow for some truly batshit crazy guitar solos by Ribot... During the band's improvisations in the second halves of 'Break on Through' and 'Party Intellectuals,' Ribot's punishing, scatterbrained leads sound as if they're trying to find something that's lost in the geography of the guitar frets."

Kids Want More Than 'Bubblehouse'

John Medeski on kids and music:

"Musically, kids can handle a lot," said Medeski, whose fiancee has a 7-year-old daughter. "You go into any folk music or traditional music and look at the kids' music, and it's not that different from the regular music — maybe the lyrical content is more what kids are into or what kids relate to.

"But there should be depth. Kids get it more than most adults, to be quite honest."

Snackfight's DJ Night -- Thursday in SF

Snackfight at the Argus
this is my monthly DJ night. if you're in san francisco, you should come. i guarantee you i'll play way better music than your friend's shitty band in that shitty bar across town. and my DJ gig is free. you know why? because it's retarded to charge money when the whole show is just some jerk playing records.

Veggie Burritos is Back

hey, lip balm aficionados. welcome to the all new veggie burritos dot com. i started this site in 2003 with a few friends to post torrents for live jazz shows we had recorded (primarily medeski martin and wood). after about a year or so, bittorrent took off in a big way and bt.etree.org emerged as the de facto hub for the trading community.

so now that the old site's original purpose has been rendered obsolete, i'm going to dedicate this spot to writings and links about music that i (snackfight the selector) like. i'll post some of my DJ podcasts, some music reviews, photos and whatever else comes along. i've also got the snackfight blog for art, bikes and random photos. this is where all the music stuff will live.

alright now, it's time to grab your dick and scream "I LIKE THIS."
